Dynamic Interval Routing on Asynchronous Rings

چکیده
We consider the problem of routing in an asynchronous dynamically changing ring of processors using schemes that minimize the storage space for the routing information. In general, applying static techniques to a dynamic network would require significant re-computation. Moreover, the known dynamic techniques applied to the ring lead to inefficient schemes. In this paper we introduce a new technique, Dynamic Interval Routing, and we show trade offs between the stretch, the adaptation cost and the size of the update messages used by routing schemes based upon it. We give three algorithms for rings of maximum size N : the first two are deterministic, one with adaptation cost zero but stretch N2 , the other with adaptation costO(N) messages of O(logN) bits and stretch 1. The third algorithm is randomized, uses update messages of size O(k logN), has adaptation cost O(k) and expected stretch 1 + 1 k , for any k 1. All schemes require O(logN) bits per node for the routing information and all messages headers are of O(logN) bits.

Compact Routing on Chordal Rings of Degree Four yLata
A chordal ring G(n; c) of degree 4 is a ring of n nodes with chords connecting each vertex i to the vertex (i + c) mod n. In this paper, we investigate compact routing schemes on such networks. We show a routing scheme for any such network that requires O(log n) bits of storage at each node, and O(1) time to compute a shortest path to any destination. This improves on the results of 16] which g...
متن کاملBoolean Routing on Chordal Rings
In this paper we consider the problem of routing messages in a network of processors conngured as a chordal ring. In particular we refer to the Boolean Routing model, and we introduce a new routing function for unidirectional and bidirectional chordal rings with degree four. This function requires O(n log n) bits of storage and O(n) time to compute, in the worst case. We also study some relatio...
متن کاملStatic and Dynamic Low-Congested Interval Routing Schemes
Interval Routing Schemes (IRS for short) have been extensively investigated in the past years with special emphasis on shortest paths. Besides their theoretical interest, IRS have practical applications, as they have been implemented with wormhole routing in the last generation of INMOS Transputer Router Chips. In this paper we consider IRS that are optimal with respect to the congestion of the...
متن کاملImpact of Dynamic Assessment on the Writing Performance of English as Foreign Language Learners in Asynchronous Web 2.0 and Face-to-face Environments
This study sought to investigate dynamic assessment (DA) - an assessment approach that embeds inter- vention within the assessment process and that yields information about the learner’s responsiveness to this intervention - and the writing performance of the second language (L2) learners in Web 2.0 contexts. To this end, pre and post-treatment writings of 45 par...
متن کاملMulti-Dimensional Interval Routing Schemes
Interval Routing Scheme (k-IRS) is a compact routing scheme on general networks. It has been studied extensively and recently been implemented on the latest generation INMOS Transputer Router chip. In this paper we introduce an extension of the Interval Routing Scheme k-IRS to the multi-dimensional case hk; di-MIRS, where k is the number of intervals and d is the number of dimensions. Whereas k...
